Export FAQs

CHAPTER: Finding Suppliers, Buyers & Distributors
1. Where can I find U.S. exporters by product and location?
ANSWER: The United States is the world's largest exporter, but one of the lowest in percentage of exporting companies. Fewer than 15% of all U.S. manufacturers export. Nearly two thirds of all U.S. exporters are wholesalers, distributors and other intermediaries, not manufacturers. You could waste valuable time and cost searching in available directories of manufacturers for export-related contacts, because most will not be interested. Instead, you should focus your search on sources of "export-interested" U.S. firms, such as the CITD Trade Directory, Commercial News USA, Buy USA U.S. Suppliers, MyExports, and Thomas Global Register. These include thousands of U.S. manufacturers, intermediaries and service providers known to be already exporting or interested in exporting. U.S. Exporter Directory contains additional company and product details for thousands of U.S. and foreign exporters. These directories are searchable by company name, industry category, product, and location.
