Learn what it takes to export successfully, the steps involved, and where to get help at all phases of the export process, from getting started to getting paid. Topics include the benefits, costs and risks of exporting, how to assess your export readiness and potential, how to conduct market research, identify and assess best markets, find customers, comply with trade requirements, fill orders, get paid and get help. |

Introduction to Exporting |
At the end of seven weeks, participants will have a detailed understanding of the broad issues and specific considerations involved in exporting products and services. The course will explain the pros and cons of direct and indirect exporting strategies, describe the Forwarding Agent's role in the logistics process and INCOTERMS, cover export documentation requirements and transportation issues. Other lectures will cover Free Trade Zones, in bond shipping, Carnets, and Temporary Import Bonds, payment terms, letters of credit, and foreign exchange. One entire session will be devoted to keys for success in exporting with a focus on negotiating and cultural aspects and another aimed at preventing costly errors, trading internationally demands knowledge of the nuances of foreign markets and regulations governing them. Participants may choose to present a paper for review that summarizes their export strategy and exchange Q & A in the final session.
