Cross-Cultural Communication for International Trade
Consistently, studies that probe failed international transactions link the complications to cultural blunders. This happens because every transaction is laden with cultural nuances that are embedded well beneath the surface of the business transaction making it far more complicated than typical business interactions. Moreover, traders are reluctant to take the time to learn how to prevent cultural faux pas. This online course takes traders through the basics of understanding cultural differences and offers the opportunity to explore another country's culture (of the student's choice) in some depth. General topics to be covered during this 7-week course include the following: developing an awareness of cultural differences; how people use space, time, power and other cultural dynamics; how culture affects problem solving; the impact of culture on leadership and management; cross-cultural ethical issues; and cross-cultural success strategies. To maximize the learning experience, it is recommended that partic ipants take the option of completing assignments for review and evaluation by the instructor. Start Date: call 916-563-3200 or email [email protected] for registration information. Instructor: Jay Hawes, International Business Consultant and Instructor (Delivered nearly 100 online courses related to international and domestic business management and marketing.) Fee: $125.00
