Export FAQs

CHAPTER: Starting Up
2. Who can help me with export start-up advice and assistance?
ANSWER: Export start-up advice and assistance can be obtained from many local trade assistance centers, especially those affiliated with community colleges and universities. In California, for example, the 14 statewide Centers for International Trade Development (CITDs) provide start-up counseling at no cost (citd.org). General business start-up assistance, whether for export or any other business, is available from a nationwide network of Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs). To locate the SBDC near you, call 1-800-U-ASK-SBA. In addition, the Small Business Administration web site (http://www.sba.gov) covers a range of topics including how to start a business, develop a business plan, and find sources of financing.
