The Sacramento Regional Center for International Trade Development has earned an elite award for its achievements in supporting export growth in the business community.

CITD director Brooks Ohlson will accept the President's "E" Award for export service on behalf of the organization at a ceremony Friday at the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C. President Obama is expected to attend.

The CITD, which operates within the Los Rios Community College District in Sacramento, serves 11 counties in northern California.

"We are helping our region reach overseas markets through training, finding solutions to complex export problems, providing marketing consultation and working with a large network of educational and government entities," Ohlson said in a news release.

According to the May 5 letter notifying CITD of its award, "Particularly impressive are the trade education and promotion programs that Sacramento CITD conducts in cooperation with its partners to assist businesses in Northern California."

Ohlson also accepted the "E" Award in 2004 when he was head of the Northern California World Trade Center.
